How do I know if I was accepted into A.P. Composition for the 2011 - 2012 School Year?
Extra-Credit Opportunity available on the very First Day of School (Tues., Sept. 08th) for all Second and Third Hour A.P. Composition Students: (1) Print a copy of the Class Syllabus. (2) Write your name in ink on the top of every page of the Syllabus. (3) Bring the entire Syllabus with you to class. (4) Have the signature sheet from the Syllabus complete and ready to turn in.
*Please do not print your syllabus for this optional extra-credit assignment until August, 2011, since the syllabus is updated for every school year.

Completed summer assignments are due for every A.P. Composition student on the first day of school, without exception. No late assignments will be accepted. Everything you need to know to complete the assignments is detailed below. Please read everything carefully, so you do not miss any steps.

Required Summer Assignments (there are two required projects for submission on the first day of school - one to be completed in relation to a chosen novel (must be from the included list of choices) and one completed in relation to four chosen short pieces of writing. . .
Because of the deep and concentrated nature of the course, it is essential that you complete the summer assignment, which follows – preferably over the course of the summer rather than the week before school starts. The assignment is intended to acquaint you with the types of works we will be studying and the approaches we will be employing in analyzing such works.

PART I of the Summer Assignment – Novel Project
The book you choose to complete this summer is your introduction to the world of different ideas and questions. It is a perfect foundation to begin a school year filled with great books and engaging ideas. Novel Choices for Your Chosen Project (you are required to complete the novel assignment using one of the provided choices) YOU WILL BE SUMMARIZING THE BASIC LITERARY ELEMENTS OF YOUR CHOSEN NOVELS(S) ON THE VERY FIRST DAY OF CLASS – PLEASE BE PREPARED AS THIS IS PART OF YOUR GRADE!
