Iden’s Course Expectations and Classroom Conduct
Welcome! Bienvenue! Willkommen! Bienvenido! My name is Frau/Madame Iden (Mrs. Iden). I look forward to our year together.
I expect to teach you French or German using common words and expressions. We discuss differences and similarities between the culture in the U.S.A. and in other countries. We sing, view videos regarding history, holidays and traditions. I use a text book, pictures, audio exercises, role plays, and projects to teach and build comprehension.
Rules
Procedures
2. Each student must bring to class each day (at the very least) a two pocket folder that is designated just for this class, lined paper and a pencil or pen.
3. Students must take notes. I will write down important vocabulary and therefore so must the students. Notes are checked and graded periodically.
4. To leave the classroom students should ask in French or German and follow the school wide Pass Policy that is posted in my room and throughout the school.
5. Text books must be covered and remain covered for the entire year. Damaged books will result in a fine or the replacement cost billed to the student.
6. Please try! A good attitude makes learning almost anything easier. Mistakes happened and that is okay as long as a real effort is being made.
7. Absences - Each student should choose a study partner. Exchange phone numbers and e-mail addresses. Call this person if you are absent to find
out what you missed. Students absent only on a test day must make up the test on the day that they return, before school, during lunch or after school. If an
absence is unexcused, the test or assignment may receive a zero per the HHS Student Handbook. Also check the bright yellow "Absent? Check Here!" folder
which is located on the wall next to the assignment board for handouts or papers given while you were absent.
8. Late work will be accepted only on the next day for 50% of the credit that it would have earned had it been handed in on time. There is always time given to
ask questions before assignments are due.
9. If you have questions, problems, or concerns, I invite you and your parents to talk with me. My room telephone
is (810) 626-2337. My email is pamiden@hartlandschools.us
10. I am setting aside time from 2:30 to 3:30 on Wednesdays after school to provide extra help.
ASSIGNMENTS AND GRADES
There are three six week marking periods. Grades are posted on-line and parents can check grades at pc@hartlandschools.us. I grade cumulatively by semester so points earned from the beginning of the semester to the end are divided by all the points possible to obtain a percent and a corresponding letter grade. A mid-term and final exam worth approximately 15% of the total grade will be averaged into the final semester grade. The following types of assignments will make up your grade.
My grading scale is:
93.6% and over = A 79.6% - 83.5% = B- 66.6% - 69.5% = D+
89.6% - 93.5% = A- 76.6% - 79.5% = C+ 63.6% - 66.5% = D
86.6% - 89.5% = B+ 73.6% - 76.5% = C 59.6% - 63.5% = D-
83.6% - 86.5% = B 69.6% - 73.5% = C 59.5% and less = E
Detach and keep the top portion for your records. I need only the bottom portion returned.
