Welcome to English 11
This is a two-semester course of study that
will help you develop new
writing and language skills to benefit you throughout your life.
The course is designed to meet the writing and reading needs of the
high school 11th grade curriculum. There are three main genres of
writing included in this course: argumentative, informative and
narrative. There is an emphasis on MLA
formatting and a concentration on SAT preparation. The reading and
analyzing of various pieces of literature, with a focus on non-fiction
texts will also be covered. Skill building topics will include word
choice, style, and grammar.

January 30th - February 28th
Welcome to second semester. This month we will be doing a lot of SAT Preparation with weekly visits to the computer lab in order to work on KahnAcademy.com (an online resource for SAT prep) There will be a series of timed essays which will simulate the essay writing experience of the SAT. In addition, our focus with on grammar and writing development using the Precis model that students were introduced to for their Rhetorical Analysis Papers.
FYI - In March Hartland High School will be holding a Pre-SAT workshop to help students prepare for the test.
